Innovations

A lot of people have been asking about Arturo's latest tricks. The truth is, at 2.75 months, his faculties seem to be developing well, but the skills he has acquired to date are probably more subtle than the ones to come in the remainder of his first year.

He has begun to squawk and babble with real authority. His head is becoming much more stable on his still-non-existent neck. He can flip himself over from belly to back, but will do so only on Paul's command. When propped on the sofa or in his "Bumbo" chair, he sits with confidence. He holds and shakes his rattle like crazy (and hardly ever hits himself in the face with it anymore). He giggles and frolics in response to our efforts to entertain him in silly ways and seems to love Pedro's kissing assaults. He can do more (and better) push-ups than his mother. He has a mean grip and likes to exhibit it on long hair. His hand-mouth coordination is excellent, and we're learning to be diligent about what we leave within his reach. He sleeps 5 hours at a time (though not always at night).

More to come, soon...
