Just over a week ago, Arturo was baptized at St. Herman, a little Russian Orthodox Church on the outskirts of Fairbanks, Alaska (notice the moose in the bottom right of this picture!).

Quakers don't practice baptism, but Arturo's (Greek) Godfather, Bobby, is Orthodox and was excited at the prospect of a baptism and sending the boy back to Russia with a small advantage in the area of cultural integration. It turned out to be an interesting and fun ceremony, complete with a haircut for Arturo, his Godparents spitting on him (sort of), and lots of other fascinating procedures and displays.
Father Isaac's wife was the singer for the baptism, and his 1 year old son provided some uplifting background noise; Father Isaac, Bobby, Arturo, Paul, me and Danielle

Godfather, Bobby; Godmother, Danielle
