Friday night we met some friends for dinner at a Ukrainian restaurant in our neighborhood. It was Arturo's first real Ukrainian meal and he loved it. His favorites were zelany (green) borscht, kvasheni pomidory (pickled tomatoes) and various kinds of mors (tart juice made using different kinds of berries). He also continues to make us proud with his good restaurant manners, though evidence of the toddler phase has started to emerge in other settings.
Arturo doesn't really (as Paul kidded in the last post) "fly face-first down the slide and into the snow." He might be ready to do so, but I'm not quite, so for now it's feet-first (as seen above), but it's true that he enjoys going screaming into the snow.
Sunday evening (actual Women's Day) we went to a dinner party. Arturo was beside himself with joy to find that there were LOTS of toys there. He was also very into talking with Maxim, the hosts' two-year-old boy. Of course, Maxim speaks Russian and French (Russian dad, Belgian mom) but no English, and Arturo basically speaks only "dada," "hi," and "buh-bye," so it was extra fun to hear the babble between them.
